ServiceNow, OIT’s primary service management tool, will undergo an upgrade on Friday, June 30, from 7 to 11:30 p.m. This maintenance is necessary to upgrade ServiceNow to Utah, the latest version of the software. Learn more about this update from the ServiceNow Utah release notes

Border Routers (network traffic)

The campus border routers will be upgraded to new hardware from 6 to 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28. During this upgrade window, network traffic to and from the campus will be moved to alternate paths to continue operating, however it is possible that users may experience an interruption for up to 30 minutes and need to reconnect to services if they do not automatically reconnect. This upgrade is necessary to replace outdated hardware.

Enterprise Applications including Campus Solutions & Portals

UIS will perform service maintenance on enterprise applications from 6 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, June 25. During this time Campus Solutions, MyCUInfo, Buff Portal, and some of the resources accessed through these services, will be unavailable (see Affected Services below). Services that are linked through the portals, but not otherwise dependent upon them, will still be accessible through direct links (see Affected Services below).

VPN Services

The campus Cisco AnyConnect VPN service will undergo a version update from 6 to 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 22. VPN services may be interrupted during the update process.

Impact

Customers connected to AnyConnect VPN during the maintenance window may lose connection and/or be required to reauthenticate following the update. Site-to-Site VPN tunnels may experience short disruptions in connectivity.

Delays in Syncs from Grouper to AD

Service Restored at 11:14 AM on 06/12/2023: The changes in Grouper causing delays in syncs to AD have been resolved. Syncs should be back to normal operations. 

Service Issue Reported at 10:12 AM on 06/12/2023: OIT is aware of a large number of changes in Grouper that are causing delays in syncs to AD. OIT is working on resolving the backlog as soon as possible. Current ETA is 11:45 AM.

Course Roster Partial Outage

Service Restored at 4:15 PM on 6/7/23: Root issue: Course Roster emails coming from Gmail accounts may have received an error similar to "550 5.4.1 Recipient address rejected: Access denied" 

Resolution: Microsoft 365 outages caused issues with mail relay from external senders passing to the Rosters service. Toggling the correct relay settings off and on restored service based on testing

Firewall Reboot and Upgrade for Engineering, Physics, Humanities, Economics, Regent and Muenzinger subnets

The firewalls in several buildings will undergo an upgrade between 6:00 and 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 8. This will cause a network outage for subnets behind the Engineering, Physics, Humanities, Economics, Regent and Muenzinger firewalls for up to 30 minutes in buildings listed below. The work being done during the maintenance window is required to improve performance and address known issues.
