Network Terminal Down at URES

Service Restored on 9/19/2023 at 9:12 AM: Per OIT's Networking Team, all services have been restored at URES.

Service Issue Reported on 9/19/2023 at 6:08 AM: Network terminal ures-117-u2673 reporting down, impacting the URES building. This is an offsite, Comcast provided location, NOC will monitor for restoral and contact impacted parties during business hours if still down.

Network Terminal Down at Henderson Building

Service Issue Reported at 2:30 PM on 9/18/2023: OIT is aware that all wireless and wired connections are down in the Henderson building. OIT's Networking Team is responding to investigate the issue.

Service Issue Resolved at 7:00 PM on 9/18/2023: Network service restored to Henderson Building. Fiber dry patch through Hellems was cut by construction. OIT's Networking Team corrected the issue and confirmed full restoration of services.

Enterprise Database (multiple services impacted)

The production Enterprise Database (EDB) service will undergo maintenance between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 23. This will impact services that are dependent upon the Enterprise Database, including the Federated Identity Service and services that rely on it for logins such as MyCUInfo, Buff Portal, Canvas, and many more (see Impact and Affected Services below). The work being done during the maintenance will improve security, stability and functionality of the EDB.

Mountain Research Offsite Building C1 Network Down

Service Restored at 9:49 AM on 9/20/2023: Per OIT's Networking team, service has been restored to all buildings at MTRS. Power work has been completed and all services have been restored.

Service Issue Updated at 4:23 PM on 9/19/2023: Most terminals are back up after power work. OIT's Networking Team will continue to work with impacted users to get C1 online.

Service Issue Updated at 2:08 PM on 9/19/2023: Xcel Energy is doing power updates through 5 PM today (9/19).

Network outage in Multiple Buildings

Service Restored at 10:15 AM on 9/14/2023: OIT became aware of a network issue impacting multiple buildings around 10:00 AM this morning. The issue was caused by a brief power outage in the engineering center that impacted OIT's networking equipment that supports the buildings surrounding the engineering center. The power was restored around 10:15 AM and the network issue resolved. OIT is investigating the cause of the UPS failing to hold power during the outage.

Network Performance in Multiple Buildings

Service Restored: OIT's Networking team has identified the issue causing performance issues with both UCB Wireless and the Wired Network in multiple buildings on campus and has implemented a solution. Network performance in the listed buildings has returned to normal and the issue is resolved.

SPSC Science Network Upgrade

Science Network services in the Space Science Building (SPSC) will undergo an upgrade between 6 and 8 a.m. on Monday, September 18. The work being done during the maintenance will improve functionality for systems hosted in the SPSC datacenter. 

Impact

OIT does not anticipate an outage during the maintenance window, however, customers with systems hosted on the science network should be aware of the possibility of an outage.

The Jira work management service will undergo an upgrade which will make it unavailable from  4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13. This downtime is necessary to upgrade Jira to the latest version.

Duo Multi-Factor Remote Access

DUO multifactor authentication will undergo maintenance between 10 and 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 13. The work being done during the maintenance will update the prompt users receive when logging in to university services that require DUO.
