CU Boulder provides distribution list capability through the use of Active Directory groups. Access is managed using Grouper.

Features

  • An email address can be assigned to an Active Directory (AD) group, then used as a mailing list.
  • Distribution lists can be used for security permissions.
  • Distribution lists can be used to invite groups to calendar events.
  • The group owner can subscribe or unsubscribe individual users.
  • Group account owners can manage access using Grouper.
  • Access management rights and responsibilities can be provisioned to group account owners.

Cost

Distributions lists are provided as common-good services to the campus, which means there is no direct cost to list owners or members.

Who can get it

Faculty, staff and student employees with CU Boulder email accounts.

How to get it

To request a new distribution list:

You'll need to provide the following information with your request:

  • The new list owner's IdentiKey username or CU Boulder email address.
  • Your department or organization's name (selected from a drop-down menu).
  • A short, descriptive list/group name. The full name will use this format: [DeptPrefix]-DL-[ListName]. For example: dept-dl-allstaff@colorado.edu.
  • If applicable, the name of the existing Grouper group that will manage the list/group.

An OIT specialist will create the account and get in touch with you once it's created.
