Microsoft Entra

Overview

Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) is Microsoft's enterprise cloud-based identity and access management solution and the backbone of the Office 365 system. It can sync with on-premise Active Directory and provide authentication to other cloud-based systems via OAuth.

Features

Microsoft Entra provides a seamless single sign on (SSO) experience in which users authenticate/log in with their Microsoft credentials to access services. Entra supports Microsoft-based attributes, as well as group access control through Microsoft Active Directory.

Who can get it

Any eligible employee (including student employees and POIs) can request Entra access after they've successfully completed the following required Skillsoft trainings: 

  • CU: Information Security for IT Service Providers - u00064: Passing score of 100% within the past year.
  • CU: FERPA for CU-SIS Access - u00049: Passing score of 80% within the past three years.
  • CU: Information Security Awareness - u00063: Passing score of 80% within the past two years.

How to get it

Request Entra access

After completing the listed trainings, contact the IT Service Center to request Entra access. The ITSC will confirm your eligibility and verify that you've met all training requirements, then grant you access to the tool.

Request SSO for your service

System administrators who want to place Microsoft Entra in front of a service should:

  1. Visit our SSO FAQ for basic information.
  2. Fill out the Service Provider Enablement Request Form when you're ready to request SSO for your service.
