CU Secure and CU Guest Wi-Fi are now live in select early-access buildings and will expand to the rest of campus over winter break. Learn more.
Wi-Fi Signal Strength
Use the resources below to look up your classroom's wireless rating or check for Wi-Fi interference sources.
Note: OIT cannot help troubleshoot issues related to your mobile carrier's cellular network (e.g., Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T).
Dropped Wi-Fi Connections (Apple Only)
Apple's Private Wi-Fi Address feature, introduced in macOS Sequoia and updated for iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, can cause connectivity issues when using campus Wi-Fi networks if not set to "off."
OIT strongly recommends turning off Private Wi-Fi Address for UCB Wireless and UCB Guest. Learn more about these recommendations.
Note: Occasionally, OIT's updates to Secure Computing devices will inadvertently toggle this feature on. If you start experiencing dropped Wi-Fi connections, please check to make sure this setting is off.

CU Secure
Status: CU Secure is live in early-access buildings and will expand to the rest of campus over winter break.
CU Secure is available to all CU Boulder affiliates with an active IdentiKey; however, devices must be pre-registered on the network in order to connect.
- Secure Computing devices are already registered; no action is required. Learn if your university-purchased device is enrolled in Secure Computing.
- Personal and non-Secure Computing devices need to be manually registered by installing the CU Secure certificate on each device.
Register a Laptop or Mobile Device
The installation process varies widely by operating system and user settings. For the smoothest experience, follow along with the instructions:
Connect to CU Secure
Once registered, your device should connect to CU Secure automatically for the next two years.
If your device doesn't connect, see CU Secure Wi-Fi - Troubleshooting.
CU Guest
Status: CU Guest is live in early-access buildings and will expand to the rest of campus over winter break.
CU Guest Wi-Fi is intended to be used by campus visitors who don't have an IdentiKey.
Request Guest Wi-Fi Credentials
Submit your contact information to get a guest username and temporary password.
Log in to CU Guest
On campus, select CU Guest from your Wi-Fi networks and enter your assigned guest Wi-Fi credentials.
You'll be required to change your password upon first login. Be sure to save it in a secure location.
Register a Specialty Device
Use any non-guest campus network to connect your screenless or smart devices (e.g., gaming consoles, smart TVs) to CU Guest Wi-Fi.
Once you've registered your device, you'll likely need to restart it to connect it to CU Guest.
