How to Request Access

Log in to the portal to request access to The Preserve.

Passwordless Login

In The Preserve, we prioritize security and simplicity. That's why we offer passwordless login, enabling you to access your account securely without the need to remember complex passwords. With cutting-edge technology like one-time codes, biometrics, or magic links, logging in to The Preserve has never been safer or more convenient.

To learn more about how passwordless authentication works and the technology behind it, explore Microsoft's official documentation on passwordless authentication. If you would like to set up passwordless authentication please send an email to srcs-help@colorado.edu.

Once you have authentication set up, learn how to log in to the Preserve.

Sensitivity Labels in The Preserve

The Preserve makes use of Microsoft's Sensitivity Label feature to meet controls that require us to track the flow of CUI.  Use of this feature is addressed in the training.  Please see these instructions [add instructions link here] for how to apply sensitivity labels to a file in The Preserve. This does not replace the user's responsibility to apply the appropriate CUI header and footer markings. Below are the labels that are supported and how they should be used:

  • Non Confidential-Public: Use for sending non-confidential emails
  • Restricted: Use for Confidential or Highly Confidential information that is not CUI
  • CUI: Use for emails and M365 documents Controlled Unclassified Information

Request Software

If you need specific software to support your research the software must go through a vetting process. Please review these software vetting guidelines (PDF) then submit the Research Computing - Software Request form to get started.
