What they are
Person of interest (POI) designations in the Human Resources system (HCM) represent non-payroll relationships, roles or affiliations with the university.
POIs are typically used for pre-employment, services and consulting, and post-payroll working relationships that have online computing service requirements. POI records can be effective-dated and may exist concurrently with payroll records.
How they're provisioned
OIT uses the following POI types to provision users with the appropriate level of IT services for their roles.
| POI Types | HCM POI Designation | Typical Service Requirement(s) |
|---|---|---|
Type A: IdentiKey only
The user needs access to the MyCUInfo/CU Resources portal, Percipio Skillsoft training or other short-term or limited services that require an IdentiKey to access.
Type B: Employee ID number only (InfoEd access)
The user needs access to the InfoEd eRA portal.
Type C: IdentiKey, email, VPN, limited employee Microsoft license, Google account
The user needs a CU Boulder email account and access to online file storage services. Note: The secure computing program requires that POIs who are issued a university-purchased laptop be provisioned with an employee-level Microsoft license.
Type D: IdentiKey, email, VPN, employee Microsoft license, Google account
The user needs a CU Boulder email account and access to online file storage services, Microsoft 365 desktop applications, Teams Calls and/or university source systems.
Other POI Types: No services
The user does not need access to campus facilities or services.
If you're an HR liaison and you believe that a user has the correct HCM POI designation but not the necessary access to complete their work, contact the IT Service Center and request routing to the Identity and Access Management (IAM) team.
