What’s New with Classroom Capture

The Classroom Capture service has been enhanced with new automation and Canvas integration features that streamline lecture recording workflows and improve the experience for both instructors and students. The following outlines what to expect when requesting Classroom Capture for your course.

The enhancements listed below only affect Classroom Capture requests for regularly scheduled courses, special events and single recordings are excluded.

Requesting Classroom Capture

  1. Request Classroom Capture using the online request form.
    • Please note: Once scheduled, dates and times will automatically match with the course's official meeting pattern. If you need to customize start/end dates or times, please use the additional notes field on the request form.
  2. OIT sends the recording request through the automated scheduling tool.
  3. Instructors will receive a confirmation email from the automated system.
    • The email will contain relevant recording schedule information as well as key tips and links to related resources.
    • The email will be sent from no-reply@mediasiteservices.com
    • Please do not reply to this email, respond to the original ticket if necessary.

Sharing Videos in Canvas

A Classroom Capture Videos button is now automatically added to Canvas courses.

  • This button is disabled by default and needs to be enabled in order to share with students. Watch our How to Enable Classroom Capture Videos for Canvas Course tutorial to learn more.
  • This button links directly to the correct video channel for the current semester.
  • Copying Canvas courses will no longer result in sharing previous semester’s videos.

Combined Canvas Courses

By default, the videos are only shared with the students enrolled in the section of the course that is being recorded.  If you have a combined Canvas course and would like to share the videos with all students, please visit the Classroom Capture & Combined Canvas Courses page or watch the Combined Courses video tutorial for more information.

Accessing and Editing Videos in My Mediasite

Instructors now have full access to their Classroom Capture content via My Mediasite.

Within My Mediasite instructors will have access to:

  • Edit recordings (cut, trim, etc.)
  • Manage visibility (e.g., hide videos during exam periods)
  • Adjust security and sharing settings
  • Upload additional videos to the course channel
