Whether on or off campus, OIT's Voice Services has options and information to help your team stay in contact. Use the guidance below to learn about the future use of on-campus physical phones, accessing voicemail for employees who work remotely, and alternatives that fit your team's circumstances.

Use Microsoft Teams
Call CU Boulder colleagues using Teams. Connect using the in-browser client, or desktop and mobile apps. Microsoft Teams is provisioned for everyone at CU Boulder and is supported by OIT and DDS.
Use Single Number Reach
If you receive a lot of calls, especially related to student, faculty or staff data or financial transactions, use Single Number Reach. You'll receive calls to your alternate phone as well as your campus phone, and if you do not answer, your CU Boulder voicemail will take the message.
Use Jabber
With Jabber software on your computer, you're able to receive calls to your campus phone line and make outgoing calls without having to make personal cell phone numbers public.

How will OIT determine if campus phone numbers will be assigned to remote workers?

How will numbers be assigned for shared hoteling desks?
New physical desk phones will not be assigned unless there’s a business reason which we will assess on a case-by-case basis. Before requesting a physical phone, try out OIT’s three recommended options for voice services.
When should home or cell phones be used in signatures or as the employees preferred number?
If using one of OIT’s three recommended options for voice services, there’s no need to put personal phone numbers in your email signature. If you need to be connected on the go, we recommend using the Microsoft Teams mobile app.
Are there quick guides for call forwarding, or other important campus phone functions?

Can an employee update their preferred phone number? If so, how does one do that?
With OIT’s three recommended options for voice services, there’s no need to do that. At this time, it is not recommended to change your preferred phone number in CU Boulder’s directory.
Are there specific headsets OIT can recommend?

As a staff member, I need instructions for setting up Single Inbox / Speechview, so that I can quickly see voicemail when working remotely.
Single Inbox / SpeechView is a feature for those who currently have a voicemail box on the CU Boulder campus telephone system. This service provides an alternative way of receiving and listening to your work voicemail. In addition to dialing into the CU Boulder voicemail system to retrieve messages, messages will be delivered to your Exchange email inbox in a speech-to-text transcription as well as a .wav audio file attachment.
