Canvas - Integrations

Recent Integration Updates

Following the May 2026 Instructure security incident, several Canvas integrations were updated to the latest standard, commonly known as LTI 1.3. LTI 1.3 provides enhanced security, improved functionality, and access to the latest features. More information about updated workflows and any action required is available under the corresponding accordion options below.

What Are Integrations?

There are a number of applications that can be integrated within Canvas courses. Integrations allow users to seamlessly access an external application inside of Canvas without requiring users to sign in to the application.

Integration Support

OIT provides support for integrations that are also OIT-supported services (e.g., CidiLabs, iClicker, Turnitin, WeVideo, Zoom). All other integrations are managed by the provider; however, OIT can answer questions if there are issues with application links, or if there are issues with syncing information to Canvas.

Request a New Integration

If you are interested in integrating a new application, it must undergo a security and accessibility compliance review. To begin the review process, please complete the ICT Review (Form A). Seek guidance from the vendor as needed. In the field that asks you to "Explain the purpose of this product", please indicate that you will be using the integration in Canvas. Additional requirements or information may be needed after the form is submitted.

Once your application has been reviewed, contact the IT Service Center at oithelp@colorado.edu or 303-735-4357 to have the application integrated in Canvas.

Integrations in Canvas

The following integrations have completed ICT Review and are approved for use in Canvas.

However, not all integrations are available in every Canvas course by default. Access to certain tools may be limited to specific departments, colleges, or courses, and some tools may require you or your department to obtain an additional license, even if a connection to the vendor has already been established in Canvas.

Requests to add an approved integration under a department, college, or course in Canvas should be submitted through the IT Service Center at oithelp@colorado.edu or 303-735-4357.
