Academic Technology Initiatives Team

What we do

The Academic Technology Initiatives Team (ATI) leads and contributes to strategic, inclusive, and innovative academic technology and campus initiatives to advance student success and teaching at CU Boulder. We work on technology evaluations and pilots, identifying available and emerging technologies to meet the evolving needs of our campus community. We also conduct assessments by collecting and analyzing data and sharing our findings to help inform strategic technology decisions that align with campus priorities.

Featured project: Assessing the Role of AI Solutions in Teaching and Learning

The ATI team is assessing AI detection and transparency tools to better understand their role in teaching and learning. This work is in response to growing faculty concerns about academic integrity and instructional adaptation in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.

In addition to reviewing AI detection practices at peer institutions and gathering campus perspectives on their use and effectiveness, we are also exploring alternative approaches that emphasize AI transparency. Informational sessions will help us collect additional feedback and guide next steps.

Whether or not a tool is piloted, this work supports faculty and student needs by clarifying institutional priorities, fostering instructional innovation, and ensuring that CU Boulder is positioned to respond thoughtfully to future developments in AI.
