Account Provisioning

Microsoft 365 uses our campus Active Directory (AD) to automatically synchronize with your IdentiKey username and password.

Available Services By License Type

We use the same role names from our Accounts & Eligibility pages to help clarify who is eligible for each type of Microsoft 365 for Education license.

Alumni License (Temporary)
Who Can Get It

New CU Boulder graduates receive this license for a nine-month period starting three months (90 days) after their degree or certificate posts to their transcript.

Employee License
Who Can Get It

Campus affiliates with the following Human Resources classifications are eligible for this license:

  • Faculty
  • Research faculty
  • Emeritus
  • University staff
  • Classified staff
  • Working retirees (faculty, staff or research faculty)
  • People with a POI Type D designation
  • Non-CU student staff
What It Includes

By default, this license includes the following services:

*The Microsoft 365 desktop apps may be installed on up to five Windows or Mac computers, five tablets and five smartphones. Use is restricted to the licensed user.

**Office Professional may be installed on one eligible device. Use is restricted to the licensed user. Contact your local IT administrator for assistance.

What You're Eligible to Purchase

The following Microsoft software licenses can be purchased through the OnTheHub software ordering system. Follow the links below for license costs and conditions of use.

Retiree License
Who Can Get It

Employees with the following job classifications who retire from CU Boulder are eligible for these services:

  • Faculty
  • University staff
  • Classified staff

Note: Retirees who are awarded emeritus status or become working retirees are entitled to an employee license instead.

Student License
Who Can Get It

Active students in the following groups, including new students who have been admitted and confirmed their intent to enroll, are eligible for this license:

  • Undergraduate students
  • Graduate students
  • CU Boulder Online students
  • Continuing Education students (credit or noncredit)
  • Auditors
