Exchange Online is Microsoft's cloud-based email and calendaring application included with the Office 365 suite, made available for faculty, staff, and student employees.
The Exchange Online service offers a web based email and calendaring client through the university's Office 365 subscription called the Outlook Web App. If you have previous experience using Outlook, the new version will be familiar. For users newer to Outlook, we recommend visiting Microsoft's Getting Started guide for basic instructions.
Visit the Outlook Web App page for the full list of Email and Calendaring tutorials compiled by OIT for campus users.
OIT has put together Best Practices for those that use the delegation feature to manage their calendar in Exchange Online. Visit the Exchange Online Calendaring Best Practices page for more.
General configuration settings:
*Note: If using software that does not support Exchange (e.g. Thunderbird) and connects using IMAP, you will need to enter smtp.colorado.edu as the outgoing server address and 587 as the IMAP port number.
For users setting up an Exchange Online account with a mail client, refer to the following tutorials:
Faculty and Staff are encouraged to use campus email delivery in order to comply with CU's Record Retention Policy. If you are concerned that this will interfere with your academic or research pursuits, you may request an exemption to utilize a different delivery location.
