Outlook - Configure Apple Mail

The following instructions step through the process of configuring your Microsoft Outlook account with Apple Mail for macOS 10.15 or higher.

Please note: OIT cannot support the Apple Mail application past this initial configuration because the vendor does not consistently adhere to Microsoft's messaging standards. Learn more about our support and recommendations on the Microsoft Outlook page.

Step

Click the Apple logo in the upper left of your screen, then select System Preferences...

Step

Select Internet Accounts.

Step

Select Microsoft Exchange. If you don't see that option, you may need to click the plus sign in the bottom left corner.

Step

Enter a display name for your account, then enter your email in IdentiKeyUsername@colorado.edu format (not first.last@colorado.edu), and click Sign In.

Step

Click Sign in to connect to your Microsoft Exchange (Outlook) account.

If prompted, you may need to authenticate using multi-factor authentication.

Step

A CU Boulder-branded login window will open. Enter your IdentiKey password, then click Sign In.

Select the apps you wish to access with this account, then click Done.

Step

If prompted, select your mail protection preference.

Step

Your account will now appear on the left side of the Internet Accounts window. Go ahead and close both that window and System Preferences.

Step

Launch Apple Mail and wait for your inbox to populate.
