Canvas Auto Course Creation, Enrollment & Web Grading

Update on 12/10/2024 at 4:14 p.m.: The maintenance end time has been extended from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. to provide additional buffer time to complete all aspects of this process. The anticipated 10–15 minute downtime for the specified Canvas functions has not changed.


OIT will perform maintenance on LMSManager, a system that supports Canvas, from 10 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11. This maintenance is necessary to resolve an issue with instructor enrollment after auto course creation.

Enterprise Applications including Campus Solutions & Portals

UIS will perform service maintenance on enterprise applications from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8.

Impact

During the maintenance window, Campus Solutions, MyCUInfo, Buff Portal, and some of the resources accessed through these services will be unavailable (see Unavailable Services below). There will also be a delay in campus IdentiKey provisioning.

Enterprise Database (multiple services impacted) - Rescheduled

The production Enterprise Database (EDB) service will undergo maintenance between 7 a.m. and noon on Saturday, Dec. 7. This will impact services that are dependent upon the EDB, including the Federated Identity Service and services that rely on it for logins. This maintenance is required to ensure continued database security, stability and functionality.

This maintenance was originally scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 16.

Microsoft 365 Services and Features

Service Restored at 1:20 PM on 11/26/2024: OIT has confirmed that the issue impacting Microsoft 365 services has been resolved.

Canvas Currently Unavailable

Service Restored at 10:50 AM on 11/22/2024: OIT has confirmed the Canvas access issue has been resolved and Canvas is fully operational. 

Service Issue Reported at 10:30 AM on 11/22/2024: OIT is receiving reports Canvas access is unavailable. Users attempting to access Canvas are receiving a HTTP ERROR 500. The Canvas vendor is aware of the issue and investigating. Current status is available at https://status.instructure.com/

Service landing pages

OIT will perform maintenance on the server that hosts the landing pages for several OIT services between 7 and 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26. This maintenance is required to upgrade the backend hosts for cucontent.colorado.edu.

Impact

During the maintenance window, the landing webpages that display when connecting to the UCB Guest wireless network; registering on UCB Wireless; and logging out of Canvas, Qualtrics and VoiceThread may not load properly.

Jira

The Jira work management service will undergo an upgrade that will make it unavailable from 8 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26. This downtime is necessary to upgrade Jira to the latest version.

Impact

Jira will be unavailable while the upgrade is in progress.
