Wi-Fi in multiple campus buildings

Wi-Fi connectivity will be unavailable in multiple campus buildings (see Affected Buildings below) between 6:45 and 7:15 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 30, while we update the certificate and reboot the Wi-Fi controller. This update is recommended to ensure that UCB Guest's splash page certificate is current.

Impact

During the maintenance window, wireless services, including UCB Wireless, UCB Guest and eduroam, will be unavailable in a number of campus buildings (see Affected Buildings below).

TCOM-CORE Router Replacement/Upgrade

The TCOM-CORE router will be upgraded to new hardware from 9 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26. During this upgrade window, network traffic will be moved to alternate paths. This upgrade is necessary to replace outdated hardware, allow for future growth and consume fewer resources.

Please note: This change was rescheduled from its original date of Thursday, Sept. 12.

Impact

During the maintenance window, network traffic will be moved to secondary paths using other core routers. No service impact is expected.

OIM is currently inaccessible

Service Restored on 9/24/2024 at 6:01PM: The networking issue at UCD that caused OIM to be inaccessible seems to be resolved now. OIM is back online. Password and account updates that happened during the outage may have to be attempted again.

Enterprise Applications including Campus Solutions & Portals

UIS will perform service maintenance on enterprise applications from 2 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 22. During this time Campus Solutions, MyCUInfo, Buff Portal, and some of the resources accessed through these services, will be unavailable (see Affected Services below). Services that are linked through the portals, but not otherwise dependent upon them, will still be accessible through direct links (see Affected Services below).

The Jira work management service will undergo an upgrade that will make it unavailable from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11. This downtime is necessary to upgrade Jira to the latest version.

Update at 4:25 p.m. on 9/10/2024: The maintenance window has been changed to 9–11 p.m. to minimize user impact. The original maintenance window was 6–7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12.

Skillsoft Percipio Upgrade

Skillsoft, an online learning management system that offers CU custom training, instructor-led training courses, and books will be upgraded starting on Friday, September 6. Instructor-led trainings will be inaccessible starting Aug. 26, and all courses in Skillsoft must be completed before the maintenance window starts at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6.

Reports of Connection Issues related to Wi-FI

Service Restored on 9/3/2024 at 11:00 AM: OIT's networking team has resolved the issue preventing connections to UCB wireless. We now recommend switching back to UCB wireless at your convenience. 

Service Issue Updated on 9/3/2024 at 9:35 AM: OIT's networking team has engaged the vendor and continues to troubleshoot the issue. We currently recommend using eduroam or a wired/ethernet connection.
