Service Maintenance Completed: Active Directory

The Active Directory service will undergo maintenance starting at 9 a.m. on Friday, August 26 and concluding at 5 p.m. on Friday, September 9. The work being done during the maintenance window will replace the four existing domain controllers. The domain controllers will be replaced one at a time, creating a redundancy that should prevent service degradation or outages. 

Impact

There is no expected impact during the maintenance window, however, users may see a slight slow down in services that depend on the Active Directory or use the Federated Identity service. With that said, OIT is working to ensure slow downs are minimal if they occur at all. Our team will be actively monitoring services dependent on the Active Directory and will issue a Service Alert if any issues arise.

The following services are dependent upon the Active Directory and, although unlikely, may experience brief interruptions during the maintenance:

• Buff Portal
• Canvas
• VPN
• Grouper
• Any OIT service that utilizes the standard Federated Identity Service sign-in page
