Description

The production Enterprise Database (EDB) service will undergo maintenance from 8 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, to 11:59 pm on Sunday, January 10. This will cause intermittent impact to services that are dependent upon the Enterprise Database, including Federated Identity Service and services that rely on it for logins such as MyCUInfo, Buff Portal, Canvas, and many more (see Impact and Affected Services below). This maintenance is necessary to upgrade the database environment. This upgrade also includes a new deployment of OIT’s automated processes that create and update IdentiKeys.

Impact

The Federated Identity Service will experience a number of 5-minute outages during the maintenance window. New authentication activity and logins will not be possible during these outages for services such as MyCUInfo, Buff Portal, Canvas, and many more. Other dependent services may also experience interruptions during the maintenance window (see Affected Services below). Creation of new IdentiKey accounts and updates to existing accounts will be delayed and queued during the maintenance and will catch up upon completion. In addition, new courses and enrollments will be delayed until the end of the maintenance window, and the nightly Registry Jobstream will be paused.

The following services are dependent upon the Enterprise Database and may experience brief interruptions during the maintenance:

  • Grouper (mygroups.colorado.edu, mygroups-ws.colorado.edu)
  • Northstar (northstar.colorado.edu)
  • Federated Identity Service/Single Sign-On (fedauth.colorado.edu) and services that rely on it for authentication, including but not limited to: 
    • MyCUInfo
    • Buff Portal
    • Buff Pass
    • MyCUHub
    • Canvas
    • CS Moodle
    • Qualtrics (will not affect recipients ability to respond to surveys)
    • LinkedIn Learning
    • Digication
    • VoiceThread
    • Zoom
    • Classroom Capture
    • WEPA Printing
    • CU Salesforce
    • Docusign
    • Adobe
  • Book Store data retrieval (via Buff Portal)
  • Oracle Identity Manager backfill of data to the Enterprise Database will be queued up during the maintenance and processed when complete (e.g. user display name changes via identikey.colorado.edu will not immediately propagate to the EDB)
