Description

Service Issue Updated at 4:05 p.m. on 7/7/20: OIT has identified several users who were not fully restored and is in the process of fully restoring them. Thank you for your patience and understanding on this issue.

Service Issue Updated at 9:30 a.m. on 7/2/20: OIT has received a number of questions about this issue. We've created an FAQ to help address some of those common questions. PDF: Email Restoration Frequently Asked Questions.pdf (updated PDF at 2:18 p.m. to include clickable links).

Service Issue Updated at 10:23 a.m. on 6/29/20: OIT has developed a solution to restore messages that were deleted due to an email retention policy that was inadvertently enabled for some users on Office 365. All emails that were deleted on June 25 and June 26 will be restored to their original location. No action is required on your part. The restoration may take up to 48 hours to be visible in email clients. Some emails that were deliberately deleted during that timeframe may be restored, and this is an unfortunate by-product of the solution. Thank you for your patience and we apologize for this inconvenience.

Service Issue Updated at 5:15 p.m on 6/26/2020: If you would like to use the instructions provided by Microsoft mentioned in our last update you will need to sign into your account via Outlook.com (Instructions Here). Please also note that if you have over 100,000 emails to restore you will need to send an email to OITHelp@Colorado.edu as the instructions provided by Microsoft only work for restoring under 100,000 emails.

Service Issue Updated at 3:30 p.m on 6/26/2020: OIT continues to work with Microsoft to troubleshoot how some CU Boulder Outlook/Exchange users have encountered a Retention Policy action that deleted messages more than six months old. We are restoring the messages for users that have contacted us about it. If this happened to your email, you can follow the instructions provided by Microsoft to restore your messages on your own, or you can contact the IT Service Center to request that your messages are restored.

Service Issue Reported at 10:28 a.m. on 6/26/2020: Some Outlook/Exchange users may see Retention Policy- 189 days (6 months) in their emails. Emails may have been moved to the Deleted Items folder. OIT is working with Microsoft to troubleshoot the issue.
