Using an outdated version of Microsoft Office? It’s time to upgrade!
On Wednesday, May 21, OIT plans to upgrade a server that manages software licenses for Microsoft Office at CU Boulder. This update will cause unsupported versions of Office to stop working altogether after 180 days.
For faculty, staff, and students using a current version of Microsoft Office, this change won’t be noticeable. However, if you’re using an older version of this software, specifically Office 2010 or 2013, you’ll soon receive a notification that Microsoft Office is failing to activate. This is your signal to update to the latest version, Office 365.
How to upgrade
Microsoft 365 Online plus desktop devices is free for faculty, staff and students. To upgrade, go to the Microsoft 365 Apps & Devices website and click Install Office. You’ll likely be prompted to login with your IdentiKey email address and password for the download to begin. After download, install Office 365 following Microsoft’s guidelines for installation.
