New funding for lecturer laptop computers

To ensure that lecturers have secure computers that support their academic endeavors and student success, during the 2025–26 academic year OIT will provide one-time funding toward the purchase of a laptop computer for lecturers. With this one-time funding, eligible lecturers will be able to select a standard performance Dell or Apple laptop computer that meets CU Boulder's Secure Computing Standard and ensures interoperability with the campus’s technology equipped classrooms.

Until recently, only faculty members were provided with centralized funding to purchase a computer through the Faculty Computer Purchase Program (FCPP) which left many lecturers with second-hand or personal computers that present security vulnerabilities due to their age. This one-time funding is made possible in part by proceeds from OIT’s computer equipment return program. As with any computer purchased through the FCPP or with university resources, computers purchased for lecturers should be returned through one of the university-approved processes like OIT’s return program.
