OIT Offsets Rising Hardware Costs with Increased Faculty Computer Subsidy
As hardware costs continue to rise, OIT is taking steps to help academic departments provide university-purchased laptops to faculty members:
- Effective July 1, 2026, OIT has increased the Faculty Computer Purchase Program (FCPP) subsidy by $300 to a maximum reimbursement of $1,500.
- OIT secured an additional year of funding for the Lecturer Computer Program, which was expected to only be available for the 2025–26 fiscal year.

About the Faculty Computer Purchase Program
The Faculty Computer Purchase Program (FCPP) is intended to reduce financial barriers to provide faculty members with secure, vendor-supported and classroom-compatible computers for their teaching, research and other academic endeavors.
If you're a faculty member who is eligible for an FCPP computer reimbursement this fiscal year, you and your departmental liaison will receive an eligibility notice from OIT by mid-August.
Starting with the 2026–27 fiscal year, the FCPP subsidy has increased from $1,200 to $1,500, which can be applied to the cost of one approved computer per eligible faculty member every four years.

About the Lecturer Computer Program
For lecturers and faculty members who are not eligible for FCPP, OIT has secured funding to offer the Lecturer Computer Program for the 2026–27 fiscal year.
Instructional faculty without current eligibility for FCPP who hold an active appointment, as well as FCPP-eligible faculty who have not met their first four-year requirement, may qualify for the Lecturer Computer Program.
Through this program, OIT provides one-time funding for the purchase of a laptop to ensure that instructional faculty have secure computers to support their academic work and student success. With this funding, eligible instructional faculty can choose a standard-performance Dell or Apple laptop.
