Buff Techs Pro to Begin Windows 11 25H2 Upgrades on July 20

Starting on July 20, Buff Techs Pro (BTP) will start upgrading any university-managed Windows computers currently running Windows 11 version 23H2 to version 25H2. This upgrade is necessary to ensure devices remain secure, supported, and up to date.

Windows 11 version 23H2 is scheduled to reach end of life this fall. After support ends, devices running 23H2 will no longer receive security updates, bug fixes, or other important Microsoft updates. Upgrading to version 25H2 before then will help protect university data and maintain a reliable computing experience.

Upgrades can be completed remotely and will require the computer to restart as part of the installation process. The upgrade may take anywhere from 15 minutes to more than an hour, depending on internet connection and device performance. Learn more about OIT’s Windows Patching Process.

If you have questions or concerns about the upgrade, use the BTP Service Request Portal to open a case with your technician.
