Kaltura - Adding Closed Captions to Videos in Canvas

This tutorial assumes that your media has already been uploaded to Canvas in either My Media or the Kaltura Media Gallery. If your media has not yet been uploaded, please first complete the Uploading Media to Canvas in Kaltura tutorial.

Step

For content in My Media

Find your media, then select the Edit pencil icon on the right side of the screen.

For content in Media Gallery

Select the Options button (3 dots) on the right side of the video thumbnail. Then select the Edit pencil icon that appears.

Step

Select the Captions tab on the video page, then select the Upload captions file button.

Step

Select your caption file (which should end in .srt or .dfxp), select its language, then click Save.

Step

The captions should now appear in the player when you select the CC button.
