With winter break winding down, it's time to prepare for your spring courses. If you're planning on using Desire2Learn, we have some helpful tips to ease you into the new semester:
Helpful tip #1: Request your D2L course today. It can take up to two days for your D2L course to be made available so the earlier you make your request, the better.
Helpful tip #2: If you would like to simplify your course navigation and homepage, you can now choose from several prebuilt options. For example, do you only want to use the content and grades tools? Apply the ToolKit Navbar: Content + Grades.
Helpful tip #3: Did you know you have the ability to add TAs to your course? If they are not already in your course, you can add TAs by searching for them and adding them via the Classlist.
Helpful tip #4: TAs can only view student data, such as grades, dropbox assignments, etc., for the sections they are enrolled in. Ensure that your TAs are enrolled in the sections they should have access to. Instructions for assigning individuals to sections are available in the Assigning Participants to Sections tutorial.
Helpful tip #5: Review our Start Your Semester Off Right checklist to ensure you've thought of everything such as removing special characters from uploaded files or using the Impersonate tool to see your course from a student's perspective.
Helpful tip #6: Attend a D2L workshop. We have several introductory D2L classes scheduled in the coming weeks.
Helpful tip #7: Take advantage of our more than 100 D2L tutorials, with topics ranging from how to take attendance to inserting media files to creating Dropbox assignments.
Helpful tip #8: Get inspired by our D2L video highlighting how instructors at CU Boulder have tapped into the power of the D2L to heighten student engagement and achieve course learning objectives.
Helpful tip #9: Assure your course documents are accessible with SensusAccess and other accessibility resources, including accessible content templates. If you have an accommodation request to provide captions for your course content, you can receive assistance through CU Boulder’s new captioning service.
