Description

OIT Identity & Access Management is implementing a change to CU Boulder enterprise person data on Tuesday, November 20, to improve legacy, all-capital-letter first names/given names such that only the first letter will be capitalized (or the first letter of each part of the name if it consists of multiple names). While not the case today, historically, employee name data was fully capitalized, and some of these names make their way into various applications and services. Users with existing preferred names, that consist of all capital letters, will not be affected by this change. This change was originally scheduled for November 13, but was postponed in order to make additional preparations.

Impact

The change will be staged during the day on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, and will impact nightly automated processes that begin at 5pm daily. Some, but not all, processes and data feeds to downstream consumers already implement logic to capitalize the first letter(s) only, thus some first names/given names may change, for example from BOB to Bob or JIM-BOB to Jim-Bob.
