Shared Channels now available in Microsoft Teams

Submitted by krlu2891 on

Microsoft Teams is OIT’s recommended program for team collaboration, individual or group chat, and video meetings. Teams has been improving connections to Office 365 products as well as other integrations since launching the service, and most recently has introduced Shared Channels, making it even easier to collaborate with others in the CU Boulder community.

Shared channels are a way for Team owners to invite people or teams into a specific channel within a team they already manage. Previously, users have had to make private channels in existing teams or create entirely new teams to collaborate. Using a Shared Channel allows you to more easily work on projects or initiatives by bringing other groups together to work within your existing structure without having to add additional people to your Team. Plus, those not invited to the channel will not see it listed, preventing sprawl of current teams.

At this time, Team owners will only be able to add others within the CU Boulder community to Shared Channels. Later this year, Shared Channels will be enhanced even further to include those outside of our campus.
