Update September 11, 2023: Visit our most recent news article about the UIS outage.
In October 2023, University Information Services (UIS) is planning to move physical equipment to a new, modern facility on the Anschutz Medical Campus. After a high-level review of CU academic and business calendars, the target date for the implementation window is 12 p.m. Friday, October 6 through 8 a.m. Monday October 9, with a contingency date of November 10 - 13.
Due to the nature of this effort, which involves moving and setting up more than 11 tons of equipment, this will be a cold cutover, meaning all applications dependent on the data center will be unavailable during the three-day implementation window. Broadly, the systems that will be affected are similar to other UIS service maintenance upgrades, like the Enterprise Applications upgrade that occurred on April 22-23.
Impact to CU Boulder
While CU Boulder OIT is not facilitating this move, there are a number of systems and services on the CU Boulder campus that will be affected by this move. The most commonly-used resources by our campus that will be affected are MyCUInfo, Buff Portal, Salesforce (Marketing Cloud and Buff Portal Advising), and other systems that are provided with real-time data. Click the expander below to see the full list, or visit the UIS announcement of this move for any updates to the list of affected services.
