Campus AI resources and coordination

Submitted by stauffeg on

The explosive growth of artificial intelligence (AI) development and AI-powered tools provides our campus with opportunities to be leaders in this rapidly evolving field while presenting challenges to campus users to track the many facets of this ever-changing, cutting-edge technology. In order to provide coordination and thoughtful implementation of AI at CU Boulder, a campus-wide AI steering committee chaired by Vice Chancellor for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer Marin Stanek, Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation Massimo Ruzzene and Vice Chancellor and Senior Vice Provost for Academic Planning and Assessment Katherine Eggert, has created a new AI website and community of practice.

The Artificial Intelligence at CU Boulder website will serve as an AI landing site that will be a hub for CU Boulder’s AI activities, resources, guidelines and policies as well as highlight how CU Boulder researchers are driving the field of AI forward to further the public good. This page will evolve to reflect changes in AI and the approval of new university guidelines and policy on AI.

The AI community of practice is growing to include representative populations of faculty and staff from research, teaching and learning, and administrative and operational disciplines. The community of practice’s role will include:

  • Identifying campus resources and initiatives
  • Contributing to campus AI norms and best practices
  • Helping to establish campus guidelines and policy in the disciplines of research, teaching, learning and operations, as well as data management

A Microsoft Team has been established to support the community of practice and faculty and staff can join by following this link to the AI Community of Practice team.

We hope these resources will help to evolve and bring attention to the ways CU Boulder is leveraging and shaping the technological future through AI.
