To prevent potential viruses from infecting your computer, OIT's anti-spam filters block file types that are commonly used to package malicious content from arriving in your Inbox.
These attachments are:
ade, adp, ani, bas, bat, chm, cmd, com, cpl, crt, dll, exe, hlp, hta, inf, ins, isp, js, jse, lnk, mdb, mde, msc, msi, msp, mst, pcd, pif, reg, scr, sct, shb, shs, vb, vbe, vbs, wri, wsc, wsf, wsh
Note: Attached .zip files that contain one of the file types listed above will also be removed from arriving email messages.
When a potentially malicious file type is detected, the original email message body will be delivered, but without the attachment. In the place of the attachment will be a simple text file indicating that the attachment was removed, along with a notification at the top of the message body alerting you to the fact that the attachment was removed from the email message.
