Description

Update at 6:48 a.m. on 03/28: Maintenance is complete and services have been tested and verified.

The campus border firewalls will be upgraded to new software from 5:30 a.m. to 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 28. During this upgrade window all network traffic to and from the campus will experience an interruption for up to 35 minutes. This may result in the need to reconnect to services if they do not automatically reconnect. This upgrade is necessary to improve performance and address known bugs.

Impact

From 5:30 a.m. to 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 28, all network traffic to and from the campus will experience an interruption for up to 35 minutes. This may result in the need to reconnect to services if they do not automatically reconnect. On-campus network traffic between on-campus machines should not be affected by this maintenance.

Here are some specific examples of how campus services will be impacted:

While using the campus network (UCB Wireless, UCB Guest, Eduroam, wired network):

  • Unable to access resources outside the campus network (Canvas, Salesforce, cnn.com, etc.)
  • Unable to access email accounts (Exchange Online, Gmail)
  • Unable to access www.colorado.edu sites
  • Able to access resources hosted on the campus network
  • Able to use Teams Calls and the campus Cisco phone service

While using a different network (home, coffee shop, cellular data network, etc.):

  • Unable to access resources hosted on the campus network
  • Unable to connect to CU Boulder Virtual Private Network (VPN)
  • Able to access email accounts (Exchange Online, Gmail)
  • Able to access www.colorado.edu sites
  • Able to access services not housed on the campus network (Canvas, Salesforce, etc.)
  • Able to use Teams Calls
