Update on 3/24/20: The Network Switch Replacement project has been suspended due to the City of Boulder’s stay-at-home order. Network switch replacements have been immediately halted. Switch replacements will resume when it is deemed safe to do so and the resumption will be announced in an OIT Service Alert.
OIT is in the midst of a project that will upgrade all network switches across campus, as part of a normal life-cycle replacement schedule, by the end of 2020. The replacements take place on a building-by-building basis during early-morning hours, from 4 am to 7 am, to reduce the impact to network users. This will cause network outages, for both wired and Wi-Fi networks, including Cisco VoIP phones, from 30 minutes up to 160 minutes based on the number of switches to be replaced. This fourth phase of replacements will run from March 2 through June 8, 2020. Affected buildings are listed on the Network Switch Upgrade project page.
