It’s a new school year and the year ahead holds so much promise. Technology will play a key role in your day-to-day teaching, research, and administrative responsibilities. Here are the top tips to help you make the most of CU Boulder’s technology and its support services.

  1. Everyone: Get free IT help via phone, email and walk-in support for your computing issues.
  2. Everyone: Leverage the collaborative power of Microsoft Office 365 and Google G Suite. Although employees don’t have campus Gmail accounts, you still have access to Google’s collaborative apps like Drive, Docs, Sheets, Groups and more.
  3. Everyone: Get free or reduced-price software like Microsoft Office and academic software like AutoCAD and Mathematica.
  4. Everyone: Register your portable devices in the CU Boulder laptop anti-theft registration program. Registering your devices can help prevent theft and assist in recovering your device if it is lost or stolen.
  5. Everyone: Install campus-recommended antivirus on your new devices.
  6. Instructors: Check out our start-of-semester tips for Canvas and Desire2Learn.
  7. Instructors: Utilize campus accessibility resources to make assure that your course materials are accessible to everyone.
  8. Everyone: Install CU Boulder’s VPN so you can connect to the campus network and access restricted campus resources when you’re off campus.
  9. Everyone: Get free training at Lynda.com for the latest software, creative and business skills or develop your personal and professional skills with Skillsoft.
  10. Everyone: Like and follow OIT on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, and sign up for the OIT News Feed or Service Alerts, so you can get the latest CU Boulder IT news and tips throughout the year.
