After working with iClicker this semester, OIT has developed two improvements to the CUClickers software that should make instructors’ experience with the Canvas integration much more pleasant. While both of these upgrades are optional, they offer terrific time savings for instructors working with the iClicker integration to Canvas.
If you are using iClicker with D2L, without any LMS integration at all, or if you just pull your roster from MyCUInfo, please don’t bother upgrading your software at this time. Also, if you don’t want to upgrade at this time, that’s fine. Both of these upgrades will be included in the CUClickers package to be released for Spring 2019.
The first improvement affects everyone using Canvas; it’s called “Batch Upload.” If you’re using the Canvas integration with iClicker, “Batch Upload” allows you to upload all your grades at once. It still takes Canvas just as long to process them, but you’ll be able to upload your grades in a matter of seconds rather than the long time it currently takes. Utilizing this update requires you to first update your software to iClicker 7.19. Several professors with large classes have already been testing this update since the beginning of the semester and have found it to be stable. Updating to the latest software doesn’t require any special processes either; just run the “check for update” feature in the iClicker software.
The second improvement only affects Mac users who are utilizing the Canvas integration. Currently, Mac users need to enter login credentials every time they connect to Canvas through iClicker. With this improvement, individuals will only need to enter their credentials when setting up the gradebook in the iClicker settings. Note that you will need to enter these settings one more time once you’ve completed the update.
Fill out the Get Software form and select Fall 2018 upgrade to download the update to download the update. The following tutorials will walk you through the upgrade installation:
OIT will be conducting quick hands-on workshops where you can get help upgrading your CUClickers software. Workshops will be held Monday October 15 at 12 PM and 12:30 PM, Wednesday October 17 at 3 PM and 3:30 PM, and Thursday October 18 at 9 AM, 9:30 AM, 12 PM, and 12:30 PM, all in STAD 367. Sign up for one of these workshops before they fill up.
