Top To-Do’s for Canvas Instructors

Submitted by stauffeg on

As we approach the end of the spring semester, and the end of the first full semester on Canvas, you might have a lot of questions about wrapping up the term. So we have compiled all the end-of-semester resources, tips and training links you need, right here. We even have a few questions of our own regarding your impressions of Canvas.

Check Out the New Web Grading Tool: Canvas has a web grading tool that allows instructors to export final grades from Canvas in a format ready to upload to the Registrar’s web grading system. Our step-by-step tutorial walks you through the process.

Drop In on Grading Training: Stop by one of the one-hour grading support sessions that run from April 30 to May 14. If you can’t be there in-person, you can join remotely through Zoom.

Wrap Up the Semester with these Tips: Finishing up a semester isn’t just about grading. These Canvas end-of-term tips will help with backing up your course, creating next semester’s course(s), releasing final grades, and more.

Create Future Semester’s Courses: Create your Canvas courses for summer or fall now so they are ready when the semester rolls around. If you have courses in Desire2Learn, now might be the time to move those D2L courses into Canvas as D2L will upgrade to a new look and feel on August 11, 2018. Although course content itself will not be affected, the appearance and layout of D2L will change for all courses and users.

Give Us Feedback: Let OIT know your overall satisfaction with Canvas and identify opportunities for improvement. Check your inbox for a personalized survey invitation with the subject line Tell us about your experience with Canvas, sent the morning of April 24.

If you ever have questions about Canvas, check out the Canvas help pages or contact the IT Service Center at help@colorado.edu or call 303-735-4357 (5-HELP from a campus phone).
