R is a free software environment for statistical computing and graphics. The R language is widely used among statisticians for developing statistical software and data analysis, and is an increasingly popular alternative to commercial statistical packages like SPSS, SAS and Stata. R provides a wide variety of statistical and graphical techniques, and is highly extensible and well supported.
There is no fee for departments, faculty, staff or students.
Several user-friendly freeware products make R easy to use for basic statistical work as well as the more powerful analysis possible with R. Among these are two highly recommended products RStudio and jamov. Like R itself, both are free and open.
