Description

Restored at 8:27 p.m.: Microsoft reported that the issue affecting Office 365 Exchange Online has been resolved. The service has been restored to normal operations. 

Update at 6:40 p.m.: We have learned from Microsoft that this is an issue affecting some Office 365 Exchange Online instances. They have diagnosed the problem and are working on restoring the service to normal operations. More information will be posted here as it becomes available. 

Originally reported at 3:45 p.m.: The IT Service Center is receiving reports that the Office 365 Exchange Online service is degraded. This degradation is manifesting as connection errors, email programs hanging, and delayed delivery of emails. OIT is investigating this issue and more information will be posted here as it becomes available.

Impact

Microsoft has reported, "Affected users are unable to send or receive email via the Exchange Online service when using multiple protocols including Outlook, Outlook Web App (OWA), Exchange ActiveSync (EAS), and Exchange Web Services (EWS). Some users may also be unable to access the Exchange Online service."
