Description

An Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) supporting the distribution firewall and Regent basement network services, both wired and wireless, has experienced a hardware failure. OIT needs to replace this defective unit as soon as possible to ensure continued network uptime. We are targeting today, Friday February 7, 2014 at 12:15 p.m. to move power connections off of the failed UPS to a newly installed UPS. The cutover should last about 10 minutes. During this time only a minor blip in networking services is expected and most users will not notice any type of interruption. Users in the basement of Regent may lose network connectivity momentarily during this time. The following buildings are serviced by the Regent firewalls: Regent Administrative Center, 914 Broadway, and 924 Broadway. Users at these locations may notice a web page reload during this time.

Impact

During the short maintenance period, only a minor blip in networking services is expected and most users will not notice any type of interruption.
