IT Digest: New technologies support multiple instruction modes

Over the summer, OIT introduced a number of new services and made adjustments to existing services to help facilitate teaching in multiple instruction modes for the fall 2020 semester. Click the links below to learn more about each service.

Remote-Capable Classrooms: This new hybrid teaching solution allows for synchronous (real-time) and asynchronous (on-demand) lecture and presentation delivery. Instructors, using their own computer, will be capable of teaching both in-room and remote students at the same time.

Hybrid-Capable Classrooms List: OIT has listed the new Remote-Capable Classrooms along with other hybrid-capable classrooms in one handy list.

Technology Copilots: For the fall 2020 semester, Technology Copilots are available by request to  provide assistance to instructors in Remote-Capable Classrooms as they use teaching technologies and facilitate remote students’ participation.

Personal Capture: This all-in-one solution allows you to record, edit and share your content from home by pairing your lecture content with webcam video or simply a voice-over. My Mediasite’s Desktop Recorder does the rest.

Reactivate previously recorded Classroom Capture content: Lectures that were previously recorded using the Classroom Capture service can now be reactivated and repurposed for remote learning.

iClicker Cloud & Reef: Together these services enable students to participate in polling both with an iClicker remote when in the classroom or the iClicker Reef app when outside the classroom.

Instruction Modes & Technology Mapping: Use this new page to map instruction modes to campus-provided teaching technology.

Watch for future digests over the coming weeks highlighting resources and support for remote work and teaching.
