Who can get it
ProPlus applications are available at no cost for all current CU Boulder faculty, staff and students.
After graduation, students no longer will have access to the downloadable applications. Students will receive a notification their subscription has ended and can choose to continue their subscription on their own, but will no longer be provided at no cost. However, any files created will be accessible (read-only) after the subscription ends.
As faculty/staff member, should I use Office 365 ProPlus software or software via the campus Microsoft Software license?
Depending on how your device is managed, you should use a different version of the software. Follow the recommendations below for clarification on which software you should use.
- Managed by DDS: Do not download software via the Office 365 ProPlus program. You are covered through the campus license and your DDS technician will install all needed software.
- Managed by departmental IT Professional: Consult your IT Professional for their recommendation and assistance with the setup process.
- Unmanaged machines:
For your computers and devices that are not owned by the school, you should use software available through the Office 365 ProPlus program .
Should I run software from both Office 365 ProPlus and the Microsoft Software license program?
No. It is recommended for users to have applications installed from either the Office 365 ProPlus software page or via the Microsoft Software campus license. This ensures that the installed applications have no compatibility issues.
If you are changing from one license to another, it is best practice to fully uninstall all versions of Office products prior to installing new applications.
How many computers and devices can I install Office 365 applications on?
You can install Office 365 ProPlus applications on up to five different computers, as well as five separate mobile devices.
Devices are managed on the Office 365 Software page.
Do I need a license key for ProPlus applications?
No. Applications are activated per device during the setup process for software downloaded from the Office 365 Software portal using your CULoginName@colorado.edu and IdentiKey password credentials.
I recently purchased Microsoft Office for my personal use. Can I be reimbursed?
No. As you made a consumer purchase through Microsoft, CU Boulder has no way to reimburse the purchase.
Can I continue to use Office 365 applications after I graduate or leave the university?
After leaving the university, you no longer will have access to the downloadable applications. You will receive a notification that your subscription has ended and can choose to continue the subscription on your own, but it will no longer be provided at no cost. However, any files created will be accessible (read-only) after the subscription ends.
Where can I download software?
Software can be downloaded from the Office 365 Software page on desktop computers, and mobile apps can be downloaded from the Play Store or App Store depending on your device. For additional instructions refer to the following tutorials:
