Service Issue Update 3:30 p.m. MST on Sept. 25, 2026:
The Large File Transfer (LFT) service is expected to remain unavailable through the weekend.
OIT disabled LFT as a precaution after our vendor, Kiteworks, reported a worldwide security exploit affecting the product. We are still waiting for a security update from the vendor. Once it is available, applied and tested, we will restore service as quickly and safely as possible.
Microsoft OneDrive can handle your large file transfers in the meantime. OneDrive supports single files up to 250 GB, which is larger than anything typically sent through LFT.
To share a large file, upload it to OneDrive and send a share link. For sensitive information, apply a Sensitivity Label in Outlook or OneDrive, and review CU's Data Classification guidance to make sure you are following university policy.

Our vendor, Kiteworks, notified customers of a worldwide security threat involving a newly identified exploit affecting the product that runs Large File Transfer (LFT). The vendor has recommended temporarily shutting down systems as a precaution. In accordance with that guidance and out of an abundance of caution, OIT has temporarily disabled the LFT service while we await further vendor guidance.
Protecting university data is our highest priority. Once a vendor-provided security update is made available, applied and thoroughly tested, we will restore service as quickly and safely as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
As an alternative, to share a file or send a sensitive email, you may use Microsoft OneDrive and Microsoft Outlook combined with a Sensitivity Label. Please review CU's Data Classification information to make sure you are following university policy.
