Description
The Federated Identity and other services will undergo maintenance between 7 and 7:30 a.m. on June 3, 2026. This will update MFA settings for services dependent upon Federated Identity to authenticate, including Canvas, Buff Portal, Google Workspace and more (see Impact and Affected Services below). This maintenance is required as part of the MFA Improvement Project.
Impact
No downtime is expected during the maintenance window, however, after this change users will be prompted to authenticate using Microsoft MFA instead of Duo for most campus services. Visit the Microsoft MFA Expansion News Story to learn more about this effort.

After the change, the following services will require users to use Microsoft MFA for authentication:
- Buff Portal
- MyCUInfo
- Canvas
- VPN
- Zoom
- iClicker
- CU Boulder NightRide
- Google Workspace apps
- Salesforce/Marketing Cloud
- University Libraries
- DocuSign
