ChatGPT Edu rollout plans

As you may have read in a message from the CU System Office, the University of Colorado recently signed a system-wide contract with OpenAI to provide ChatGPT Edu access to eligible CU faculty, staff and students across all four campuses. Through this agreement, ChatGPT Edu will offer an institutionally supported alternative that better protects student, faculty, staff and university data than publicly available platforms while still providing users all the advantages of the cutting-edge technology they seek.

The deployment of ChatGPT Edu will occur in several phases. The tentative launch timeline includes:

• February-March 2026: Access for limited test group of students, faculty and staff during platform configuration
• Late spring semester 2026: Access for eligible students, faculty and staff (with required completion of Percipio training course)
• Fall 2026: Access to advanced features
