OIT Colleagues Honor Mike Carter

Picture of Mike Carter.Once again, a group of OIT co-workers are forming a team for the upcoming Tour de Cure in honor of their former colleague, Mike Carter.

For those who didn’t know Mike, he was CU Boulder’s very first “network mail administrator.” In fact, Mike spent his entire professional career, from the time he was a student until his passing, serving the IT needs of the University of Colorado.

When Mike was diagnosed with diabetes, he set out to raise awareness and fight for a cure. He started riding in the Tour de Cure, but that wasn’t enough for Mike. So Mike and other riders with diabetes started the Red Riders team. Mike helped grow the team, and it expanded across the country. Now there are over 6,000 Red Riders of the Tour de Cure.

To honor Mike’s life and passions, a group of his OIT co-workers formed a team for the Tour de Cure in 2018 and that team is back at it for 2019. Whether you knew Mike or not, you are welcome to join The Friends of Mike Carter team or make a donation through the team’s site. It is the hope of this group of Mike’s colleagues to honor his memory and help make a difference for a cause Mike cared about deeply.
