Averie Dow (she/her) joined OIT’s User Experience team in Fall 2024 as a student assistant UI/UX Designer. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Information Science and a minor in Creative Technology and Design and expects to graduate in May of 2026.
Averie’s passion for User Experience developed during her time as a Kode With Klossy Web Development and Mobile Application Development scholar. From Kode With Klossy, Averie not only learned the foundations of how to code, but it also sparked her passion for creating accessible and inclusive digital experiences. It was through that program that Averie first became aware of the danger of algorithm biases and the importance of including diverse perspectives when creating new tools. Kode With Klossy is the reason she decided to pursue Information Science and UX/UI. Through her Information Science major, Averie frequently designs mobile and web products for various types of users, including one specifically for connecting CU students with clubs and organizations.
Averie looks forward to deepening her knowledge about User Experience best practices and approaches in her role at OIT and she is excited to grow her skills in accessible design.
Outside of her role at OIT, Averie gives campus tours as a CU Student Ambassador, acts in Sandbox Theater, and holds leadership positions in her sorority.
