Features
Copilot is a web-based chat tool that can help faculty, staff and students improve their productivity and efficiency. Copilot uses the GPT-4o and DALL-E 3 AI models to answer questions, generate content, or help you with tasks using public online data.
- Summarize documents and websites
- Create lesson plans, quizzes or instructional material
- Conduct research for papers and assignments
- Generate images using DALL-E 3
- Assist in writing code in several programming languages
- Extract text from images
Who can get it
Copilot is available at no cost to all eligible CU Boulder faculty, staff and students.
- If you are unable to access Copilot and believe you should have access, please fill out the New Office 365 Apps License form in the OIT Messaging and Collaboration Request Portal.
- Faculty (excluding Faculty Emeritus) and staff who retire from the university will lose access to Copilot upon retirement.

How to get it
Visit the Copilot website and sign in with your IdentiKeyUsername@colorado.edu and IdentiKey password. Copilot supports Microsoft Edge (desktop and mobile) and other major non-Microsoft browsers like Chrome, Firefox* and Safari.**
*Customers using Linux may experience issues accessing Copilot through Firefox.
**In certain cases, Safari may require you to add the Copilot site address to the pop-up blocker's allow list.
Microsoft 365 Copilot
Microsoft 365 Copilot is integrated into the Microsoft 365 suite and can be used with Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, Forms, Excel, Word and other apps. Copilot helps users quickly generate content, analyze data, summarize documents, summarize meetings, learn new skills, find information and write code.
Microsoft 365 Copilot utilizes any data that you have permission to access and that is stored within the Microsoft 365 platform (Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Outlook, Microsoft Office, etc.). Please reference OIT's storage solutions by data requirements to learn more about storing sensitive data in the Microsoft 365 platform.

Security Features
- User and university data in Copilot Chat is protected and will not leak outside the organization.
- Chat data is not saved, Microsoft has no access to it, it is never used to train the model, and it will never be shared with OpenAI.
- Copilot uses an isolated version of OpenAI's GPT 4o, run in Microsoft data centers. All data, prompts and responses are protected under our Enterprise Data protection agreement with Microsoft.
- Even with these protections, users should review responses or files produced by Copilot and handle those containing confidential and/or highly confidential data as defined in CU's data classification policy.
Please note: Microsoft 365 Copilot utilizes any data stored or shared within the user's Microsoft 365 platform (e.g., Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Outlook, Microsoft Office, etc.).
