Description
On Wednesday, July 20 from 5:00 - 6:00 a.m., OIT will be upgrading the RL1 firewall to increase the stability of the service and enhance network capacity. This will only impact some areas of campus. If you have questions as to whether this upgrade will impact your area, please reach out to your local IT Practitioner.
Impact
During the maintenance, the network on this firewall will be isolated from the campus (and the Internet) for approximately forty minutes during the change to the new hardware. The impact includes:
- Users behind this firewall will be unable to access outside or inside campus network resources (e.g. Desire2Learn or colorado.edu)
- CU Boulder Virtual Private Network (VPN) will be unavailable
- Users behind this firewall will be unable to access their email accounts
- Servers behind this firewall will not be accessible
- Those connected from home or a place of business (e.g. Starbucks) will be able to access services that are not behind the RL1 firewall
