Cost
Any Mac (used by faculty, staff, or students) is eligible for an upgrade to macOS at no cost, provided it meets hardware requirements. Visit the Mac App Store for more details on available software and upgrades.
How to get it
- For university-owned Macs managed by OIT Dedicated Desktop Support or part of Secure Computing, please contact OIT.
- For any other Mac, please see Apple’s “how to upgrade” instructions.
If you use a university-owned device and want to learn more about enrolling in Secure Computing, please contact OIT at oithelp@colorado.edu.
Apple IDs
- Recent changes made by Apple required CU Boulder to claim the colorado.edu domain and as such, the creation of personal Apple IDs with @colorado.edu addresses is no longer permitted by Apple.
- Existing personal Apple IDs using colorado.edu are not impacted by this change, only the creation of new IDs.
- If you need access to the University's Apple Developer program, you should use a personal Apple ID.
