What’s New In Canvas?

Submitted by stauffeg on

CU Boulder’s Canvas support team has been busy making improvements toward making your Canvas experience better. Here is a list of changes that happened this summer.

  • The student identifier used in Canvas was changed from the Unique Universal Identifier (UUID) to the Student ID (SID). Read more about where to find SIDs in this OIT News story.
  • When a student or auditor drops from a Canvas course, they are now marked as “inactive” instead of being removed from the course completely. Read the Dropped Students FAQ for more information.
  • A simplified Turnitin integration, that only sets up plagiarism detection for your assignments, has been enabled. Review the Turnitin Quick Integration tutorial for assistance with using it.
  • Canvas releases new features each month. Learn about these changes on the Canvas New Features page.

Because the ability to edit the look and feel of a course is limited in Canvas, we are piloting a Canvas integration called Cidi Labs Design Tools. If you are interested in participating, or would like more information about the changes listed above, please contact the IT Service Center at (303)735-4357 or help@colorado.edu.
