Faculty asked, OIT listened. CU Boulder’s Classroom Capture service is expanding. During the fall 2018 and spring 2019 semesters, all courses and education-based events that support the academic mission of the university will be eligible for Classroom Capture at no cost. Previously, Classroom Capture was available only as a common-good service to classes with a course code. This pilot expands beyond just courses and will fund Classroom Capture for education-based content that supports the academic and teaching mission of the university.
Studies have found that easy access to on-demand recorded lectures increases retention of material and engages learners more fully. CU Boulder’s Classroom Capture service allows students to control playback, quickly navigate to a section in the lecture, and view presentation materials (e.g. the chalkboard or PowerPoint sides) alongside the instructor’s lecture.
To request the Classroom Capture service, instructors simply need to submit the online request form which will allow the OIT Learning Spaces Technology team to appropriately follow up. Visit the Classroom Capture Service page for more service benefits as well as a list of classrooms and lecture halls equipped for this service.
The pilot will run until June 30, 2019. Before the conclusion of the pilot program, there will be an evaluation to determine whether the expansion of the service will be continued into the future. Please note that this pilot will not fund non-educational events, an external entity’s events, or events hosted by auxiliaries (e.g. CU Boulder Conference Services). These events will instead be charged $100 per hour for the service.
If you have questions and/or feedback about this pilot program or about the Classroom Capture service in general, please contact the IT Service Center at email@example.com or call 303-735-4357 (5-HELP from a campus phone).
